Welcome, I'm so glad you are here! I'm Misty Kearns, an introverted, creative, down to earth, small town girl who went from fired & broke to a top leader in the direct sales industry and then went on to create several successful online businesses. I'm a Certified High Performance Coach® & Founder of CEO of Me® & Successfully Me®. I help women who own a home or online based business to be able to develop the mindset of success, attract leads through authentic marketing & implement systems that enable them to work smarter & get more results.
I believe in servant leadership & empowering others to reach their goals. I don't believe in being pushy or fake - in sales or in my coaching. Nice girls (& boys) can be successful too! Marketing & systems are my superpowers. I love helping others grow their businesses by sharing my skills, ideas & experiences.
I do my best to personally connect with each person who joins my programs & help those who are part of my online communities. It would be my privilege to work with you & train you on the same systems, strategies and tools I have used to be so successful, organized and in control of my life & business so you can reach your goals and enjoy your own definition of success too!
How my life got flipped, turned upside down & I became the CEO of Me
My journey to becoming a CEO of Me® was most definitely an unexpected one. It begin one fall day in 2006 when my boss called me into the boardroom and told me to pack up my personal belongings because he was letting me go. I was a shy, 25 year old, single woman, living on her own, who had less than $1000 in the bank. I had absolutely no idea what I was going to do when I walked out the door that day. I was scared. I was devastated.
I was also relieved. Relieved because I hated that job. Relieved because I was not made for the 8-5 corporate world. Relieved because deep down inside, I had always known I wanted something different for my life, something that made me feel alive, worthwhile and purposeful. I was never one who was happy going with the flow or doing the traditional things. I don't think I would have ever had the courage to start my own business had I not been fired from that job though. What I thought was going to be one of the worst days of my life turned into one of the best things that ever happened to me! (Isn't God's plan amazing & so much better than we could ever plan for ourselves?)
Believe it or not, when I started in direct sales it was for the discount. I said I would never hold a party or build a business! It was just three months later that I lost my job. (Never say never, right?) I still did not really think I could be successful in direct sales. I needed an income so I decided to pursue the business and see what happened. I seriously had nothing, nothing to lose. I was working a part time job at a tanning salon, doing some administrative work from home a few hours a week and mostly living off credit cards at this point.
I never thought my direct sales business would turn into a full time income in just a few months time. I had no idea that companies would give you free trips, free cars, recognition & products all while paying you to party and help others start their own business. I never dreamed it would give me the confidence to do so many things I had been terrified of before. I had no idea how many amazing people, connections, friendships, fun and memories it would give me. I would have never expected all the doors that would open and opportunities that would present themselves to me because of being a home & online based business owner.
You see it's not really about how much money you make, how many prizes you earn, how many accolades and how much recognition you receive. The real reward of owning your own home or online based small business is how you can use all of those benefits to help you achieve the bigger goals and dreams you have for your life (& your family) and how it allows you to let your light shine so you can positively impact the lives of others in the world.
How I became a Coach
I had so many people asking me how I was able to be successful and wanting to learn what I was doing and how I was doing it. I realized that most people who start a home or online based business often start out like I did: not really knowing what to do, how to do it or where to go to find out how to create systems, promote their business in a non pushy manner or a step by step plan of what to do and what not to do. I originally started CEO of Me® as a blog in 2011 to share my ideas, tips, training (and a bunch of other random stuff that has since been moved to a personal blog).
I have always enjoyed and been most passionate about teaching and coaching others, helping them develop their strengths and the skills to be successful to reach their own goals. In 2013, I decided to turn CEO of Me into a legit business by trademarking, becoming an LLC, and beginning the process of becoming a Small Business Success Coach. In 2014 I completed certifications through Liberty University & the AACC for life coaching & Christian counselling for women. I officially began coaching and providing products & programs in late 2014. In 2016 I completed my Certification to become a High Performance Coach through the High Performance Coaching Program which is one of the most elite coaching certifications available. There are currently less than 400 Certified High Performance Coaches worldwide. It has been such a blessing, honor and pure joy to now be able to help so many women (and men) all around the world in creating a business & life that they love!
A little more about me
I always tell people that I am the girl next door from a small southern town in NC who believes in dreaming big, working hard, loving your family, serving God and making a difference in the world. If you met me in person you might be surprised that I am only 5 feet tall. I tend to be more reserved and quiet until I get to know you then it's hard to get me to stop talking.
I am a "recovering people pleaser" and it has taken me a long time to learn how to be comfortable with my authentic, introverted self. I have struggled all my life with anxiety and depression. I have had to work (and continue to work) really hard at re-framing my thought process to be more positive & making mindset shifts that have helped me be more successful. (I can help you with doing the same!)
I love to learn new things so. I am always reading books and researching new topics and ideas. I don't watch a lot of TV but my favorite TV shows are The Office (US edition), Big Bang Theory, Golden Girls & Antiques Roadshow. (I love laughing, friendship & history.) I am happiest when I am creating - whether that is crafts, DIY or organization projects, writing, developing training or coding yet another new design for one of my websites or creating memories with friends and family here at home or out on adventures and traveling.
A quote that describes me well is: "I get up every morning both determined to change the world and to have one heck of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult." - E.B. White
Hebrews 10:23-24 describes what I hope to accomplish with this site & my life: "Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds."
Let's take the next step together
Maybe your story is similar to mine and you find yourself in a place in life where you just know you don't belong. Your heart, your passion, your desires do not match the life you are living. You are struggling to make a solid income, cannot keep things organized, worried about being pushy and people telling you no. Your business is just not as successful as you would like or need to be. You could use some training and tools that help you work smarter but most of all you are ready to stop dreaming and start living that life you have imagined. (Or maybe you just think I'm cool & want to be friends? I'd like that too!)
